Why do we charge for Artwork?

Preparing artwork for Litho printing requires certain knowledge and skill as does the artistic ability of a Graphic Designer. A Graphic Designer is permanently employed to help customers who have no artwork translate their ideas into visual reality

What is the turnaround time for print jobs?

Flyers are usually completed in 3 working days and most other print jobs can be completed in 4 to 5 working days. Specialty items such as catalogues, folders and items with special finishing take around 7 working days

Why do we not offer accounts?

Printing small runs of low value items requires a large volume and turnover. Monographic processed well over 300 individual orders per month. Managing accounts for this many orders would be overwhelming and very costly to manage

It is the same as UV varnish above but only applied to certain elements on the page such as photos or logos. It has the effect of making them stand out form the page

Why do we require a deposit?

Various costs are incurred in the printing process which cannot be recovered if the customer decides they no longer want to have the printed item

What file types can we use to print?

The following VECTOR file formats are preferred as PC compatible files in CMYK; Corel Draw (.cdr), Acrobat (.PDF), Freehand (.fh11), Adobe Illustrator (.ai), and in EDITABLE (.eps) format.
Pixel Image formats can be supplied at minimum 300dpi resolution and in 32 bit CMYK; .jpg, .png, .tiff

Problematic files are; Adobe InDesign (.indd), Microsoft Publisher (.pub), Microsoft Word (.doc), Microsoft Power point (.ppt), Microsoft Excel (.xls).

All artwork received is stepped up in Corel Draw as Corel Draw has the built in ability to manage the reproduction process when dealing with many orders being printed together

Why can we not print items the same day?

There are a number of steps in the production process of all print jobs. Production schedules need to be kept to, to avoid delays for orders already in the system

Why do colour's sometimes vary between batches of the same print job?

There is a very fine balance of colour in CMYK printing, so fine in fact that even a marginal change in the CMYK values can result in a colour change. CMYK colour reproduction can be affected by many external factors such as atmospheric humidity and temperature which are beyond the control of the press operator. Due to these uncontrollable elements the PIFSA standard for CMYK printing allows for up to 8% variance in colour between batches

What is UV Vanish?

UV Varnish is a clear ink which contains a hardening catalyst which is overprinted onto printed material. The sheet is fed under a UV lamp which causes the UV varnish to instantly dry and harden to a gloss finish. UV varnish not only protects the printed item against smudging but also adds to the overall quality of the item
